We did our best to hide the anvil that was sitting on our tongues

That car took us down south 
And then that car broke down
So we slept in the backseat miles away from the nearest motel

All the traffic and the lights kept us up all night

The years kept rolling by
And that car picked up some rust
We finished school and moved downtown
all of our life packed in the trunk

The day that we got hitched
All our family and friends witnessed
And our escape, our getaway was all dressed up and filled with gifts


The car was old, our love was new
Student loans and skies of blue

Now my bellies growing fast and the tanks filled up with gas
My water breaks we’re wide awake
You’re making the best time you’ve ever made

In a day or so we will bring home the most precious of cargo
